Glamour Shots, Rainbows with Wine Glasses and Marky Mark

Guess what happens when your mom comes to visit and you go through a box that was in storage?

The 80s and 90s come screaming out, that's what.

This post is a trip down memory lane for me, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who will recognize a few of these things from their past, too. Man, I'm showing my age today and letting some skeletons out of my closet. Sheesh, y'all better enjoy this.

Glamour Shots
Man, look at those poof bangs!
Please tell me y'all remember Glamour Shots? A model-like photo shoot, complete with hair, makeup and outfit changes, all for the price of a non-genuine model shoot. Look at that amazing picture above. I call that my 'Contemplating the Meaning of Life' look. Believe it or not, I was only 12 or 13 in this picture. Talk about making it easy for pedophiles, right? I was shocked to find Glamour Shots is still in business in some areas... Wow!

90s Teeny Bopper Posters

90210, NKOTB, The Coreys and Marky Mark
Yes, these were the actual pictures that hung on my walls when I was a teenager. Notice the Coreys? How about Luke Perry from 90210? Can't forget New Kids on the Block, and if you click on the picture to make it bigger, you'll see Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in the top right corner... how sexy was Mark Wahlberg back then, right? And, was I the only kid who watched 'Eerie, Indiana'? I keep begging Hubby to buy me the season on DVD. I lived for that show!

Controversial Awards
What? Most Unusual? They must have been psychic.
Do y'all remember, back in the late 80s, that mom that went to the media because her daughter received the 'Most Unusual' award at school one day? No? That's because it didn't happen. The difference between the 80s and today: I received a 'Most Unusual' award in elementary school, and my parents and I laughed about it. Today this award would make it on the news, front page of Yahoo! and be blogged about. I can't remember if the award was because I was Most Unusual, or a book I wrote was the Most Unusual, but either way, I think it's awesome. I've grown up to walk to the beat of my own drum, be an individual and a free thinker. Whatever teacher gave me this award was psychic.

Early Artist

These pictures should go for loads of money now that I'm an artist during the day, right? Crap, I have to be dead for that to happen, right? Damn.

Each of these drawings was done sometime in my high school years... the horse might have been middle school. And no, I didn't do drugs in high school, thank you.

Man, that horsey looks a little on the long side...
Hey, it's patriotic, full of color, and well, a horse built for a family of 5. So sue me if my proportions were a little off.
A Mt.Dew and a... potato? WTF?
Kudos on the Mt.Dew can, if I do say so myself, but the potato? Not sure what emotion I was trying to evoke with this sketch. Nighttime munchies, perhaps?

Everyone had trolls, right?
In my high school art class, we had to keep an art journal. Each week we had to turn in a certain number of drawings that we'd done at home. I used what was around me, which was apparently... troll dolls. Everyone had these ugly little buggers, right? I had one with yellow hair, green hair, one with pink hair that was dressed up like a surgeon, and so many more. And I drew them quite a few times, according to the various drawings I found.
Wine glasses and rainbows... Yeah...
It's a wonder I didn't turn out to be a lesbian alcoholic after painting pictures like this in high school. Wine glasses, rainbows, flowers, and what we like to call 'alcohol abuse' with the wine spilling everywhere. What the hell is the heart thing coming out of the end of the wine glass? A nail file? A decorative chainsaw blade? No freaking clue. Guess I left that up to the interpretation of the beholder.

Good grief, I hope y'all enjoyed this post. Now y'all see I've always been this... quirky.
