My Love Affair

Just about every night, I look forward to the kids going to bed, so I can have an affair. The days I have to work, I look forward to getting off work and really partaking in my extracurricular activities, because the days I work are the days I need it the most.

Even when I get asked by coworkers to hang out after work, I usually turn the invitations down, so I can get home and see the kids for a little while before enjoying my late night fun time.

I put the kids to bed, slip into something comfortable, make some refreshments for during (because you know you work up an appetite), sometimes I'll turn the lights off, sometimes I'll keep them on, and I get started.

I know which buttons to push to get exactly what I want, I know when to speed up, when to slow down, when to repeat something, and what to skip. And the choices... oh good gracious, sometimes I have so many choices, especially if I haven't done it in a while.

And when I'm done, I fall right asleep. No tossing and turning, no mind racing, just calm, relaxed and happy.

The amazing thing is, my husband loves my affair. In fact, he gives me more choices on what to enjoy, and suggestions on new things to try. Then, we'll talk about it when I'm done.

Do I have y'all wanting to know what my love affair is, and what turns me on?

I'm a DVR whore.

Y'all had dirty minds, didn't you? Naughty readers. (That's why I love y'all.)

I don't know what I'd do without my DVR box.

I guess I'd just watch a lot less TV. Hell, that's no fun.

My obsession with my DVR box started when I had a few shows to watch at the same time on the same night. Then, I realized that by taping shows, I could fast forward through commercials.

I've never looked back, and my style of watching TV was forever changed. I now can't stand watching a TV show when it actually comes on. I prefer to watch things when I want to watch things, not when the networks tell me I have to watch. And screw commercials. Seriously.

So, what exactly turns me on (or makes me turn on my DVR box, I should say)?

Tatted Mom's DVR Box:

TV Shows:

  • 2 Broke Girls (a must)
  • How I Met Your Mother (when I run out of other stuff to watch)
  • Inkmaster (a must)
  • Survivor (a must)
  • The Big Bang Theory (a must)
  • Supernatural (need to catch up on)
  • Spartacus (catching up on)
  • The Voice (a must, for my boy Tony Lucca)
  • Once Upon a Time (not sure if this is a keeper)
  • Ghost Adventures (a must)
  • The Finder (my sister's, and I'm catching up on it)
  • Grey's Anatomy (my sister's)
Movies:
  • The Kennedys (mini series- need to watch)
  • Bag of Bones (mini series- need to watch)
  • Takers
  • Eat Pray Love
  • The Tourist
  • Candyman (only movie that has ever truly scared me- trying to bring myself to watch it again)
  • The Mechanic (love me some Jason Statham)

The bad thing is, my DVR doesn't even include all of what I actually watch. A lot of it is on Netflix (my other love affair), like Sliders, Obsessed, Clean House and goodness knows what else.

What can I say? I like to watch TV. To me, there's nothing better than getting into comfy pajamas, grabbing some popcorn, and cuddling on the couch with the kids, or with hubby (I miss him) after a long day. Or, climbing into bed and relaxing, catching up on my shows of the week (still makes me miss hubby).

So, there you have it. I've exposed my love affair with my DVR box with the world.

And, I'm willing to bet, I'm not alone on this one. Let's turn this into a DVR orgy- share your DVR love affair list below. Get me addicted to new shows!!
